Ever since framing began on our addition, we’ve had a ZipWall dust barrier occupying one end of the family room. The device allows very messy work to be performed on the wall between the addition and the family room without dust and construction debris getting into the room.

It’s worked well, and we have continued using the family room every day. In the not-too-distant future a door will be installed, providing access from the family room to the new laundry room.

The ZipWall keeps the construction mess out of the family room.

Say goodbye!

Our old master bath will be demolished on Monday, a bit sooner than we expected. The only thing we are saving is the bathtub, which is behind the wall on the right in the photo below. We’re going to have it re-glazed; it’s in decent shape except for some stains. The shower fixtures will be removed, and it will become a tub-only.

Otherwise, the bathroom will be gutted. We’ll be installing new cabinetry, counter tops, ceramic floor tile, under-floor heating, sinks, toilet, lighting, mirrors — the works.

The sheet of OSB on the far wall covers an opening into the new accessible shower room. When the demo begins, the OSB will come down, and the walls on either end of the tub will become half-high walls (kneewalls). The bath and shower rooms will then be one large room.
