While tiling continues in the bathroom and shower, the HVAC guys are hard at work replacing our old furnace and A/C unit with new ones.

First the old furnace was removed to its temporary home in the driveway.

Say goodbye to the old furnace.

Say goodbye to the old furnace.

And the new Trane furnace took its place.

New furnace.

Our ancient A/C unit was hauled away. Despite being nearly two decades old, the old unit provided good service, if not very efficiently.

The shiny new A/C unit is nearly ready to start cooling the house.

We got our first look at the new bathroom vanity cabinetry today. We had selected the design and the finish some months ago, but this is the first time we’ve seen the actual cabinets.

Lynda claims I don’t remember what color these were supposed to be, but she assures me they are exactly the right color.

In the shower, the ceramic tiles are going up, and it looks great! On the right in the photo below you can see the built-in shower seat taking shape. It’s made from Schluter KERDI-BOARD, a building panel that is also designed as a substrate for tile. It’s made from extruded polystyrene foam and covered on both sides with a reinforcing material.

Looking forward to more bathroom progress in the coming week!
